Integrating CAD and Microsoft Office in SAP PLM

The integration of CAD applications in SAP's product lifecycle management is in increasing demand. Numerous enterprises want to activate the SAP PLM module as a product-data management system. Some 2,800 enterprises around the world are using SAP PLM today. We developed the Porta~X interface to meet this need.

Porta~X integrates applications such as SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER, AutoCAD, DWGeditor or Microsoft Office under a single user interface in the SAP product data management module SAP PLM. With Porta~X, product-relevant data (CAD and Office documents) can be stored on a uniform central platform, where they are available to the entire enterprise as information, for further processing or to provide a basis for decisions.

Porta~X can create and modify material master files, create, change and version document information records, and check documents into and out of an SAP Content Server. SAP change management is supported as well. Porta~X can generate material parts list from a full range of CAD applications at just the click of a mouse and is an SAP-certified interface.
